Communion Steward      Printable PDF

  1. If you are serving at the 8 AM service, be at church at least one-half hour prior to the start of the service. If serving at the 10:30 AM service, come when you can but allow one-half hour for preparation prior to the service.
  2. Sanitize your hands before handling the cups and wafers.
  3. On a typical Sunday you should fill two to three trays of communion cups. The middle section is for grape juice. Only fill 2 or 3 cups in the middle of the tray with grape juice. If it is a special occasion you will most likely need more. Use your best judgment. Each tray holds approximately 35 cups.
  4. Use the light blue Tupperware container to fill the glasses.
  5. Put a small amount of wine in the pastor's chalice.
  6. Place the lined basket on the table by the chair next to the altar (acolyte will pick up used wine glasses in this basket).
  7. Bread or wafers go in the wooden bowl.
  8. To set up the altar, follow the chart in the drawer. Altar linens are in plastic bags with numbers which correspond to the number in the corner of the linen on the chart. Please return them to the appropriate bag when finished.
  9. When serving communion, do not touch the glasses. Allow the participants to take their own wine from the tray unless you are asked to do otherwise by the participant.
  10. After the service, throw away used glasses and clean up trays, etc. If you are serving at the second service, please wash & dry all trays and the chalice and make sure the cabinets are locked and the key put back.

IF YOU FEEL THAT THERE MAY NOT BE ENOUGH WINE OR GRAPE JUICE FOR THE NEXT DAY OF COMMUNION PLEASE CONTACT MARILYN HOVDE AT 968-6732. (Feel free to leave a message)
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!
